The investigation into the alleged sexual assault began in June 2015, police said in a statement.
As a result of that investigation, police were granted an arrest warrant for Rony Ortega of Maple Ridge Drive. Danbury police detectives located Ortega at his residence on Tuesday, when he was taken into custody without incident.
Ortega was charged with first-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
He was held on a court-set cash-only bond of $150,000, police said.
