Danbury Man Reportedly Charged With Manslaughter In Death Of Toddler

DANBURY, Conn. - A 25-year-old Danbury man who was babysitting a neighbor's toddler was arrested Tuesday and charged with manslaughter in the boy's death, according to a report in The Hartford Courant.

Christian Williams, of 3 Housman St., was also charged with risk of injury to a minor  and held on $850,000 bond, according to the report.

The death of Ayden Baskay in Danbury on Sunday was ruled a homicide, the Connecticut Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday. (See story here in The Daily Voice.)

The boy died of blunt force injuries to the head, with a subdural hemorrhage, or bleeding close to the surface of the brain, a representative from the office said. The Medical Examiner's Office was unable to confirm Ayden's age, but The Courant reported the boy was 19 months old.

According to online records with the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Williams was arrested in May 2011 on charges of third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. He pleaded guilty to those charges in May and was sentenced to special probation.

Williams was arrested in March on third-degree burglary charges. He pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to four years in prison, suspended, with three years of probation.
