Danbury Motorcyclist Injured In Crash On Clapboard Ridge

DANBURY, Conn. — A 29-year-old Danbury motorcyclist was sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon after he slammed into a turning car on Route 39/Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury, police said.

The serious crash occurred at 4:04 p.m. Sunday in the area of a church at 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, police said.

Oberdan Magalhaes 29, of Danbury was driving south on his 2006 Yamaha YZFR6L, police said. 

Berno Santos Damata Jr., 28, also of Danbury, was driving north in a 2016 Nissan Altima 2, police said. 

Damata believed he had enough time to turn left into the driveway of 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, but his Altima was struck on the passenger side by the Yamaha operated by Magalhaes, who did not have time to react to avoid the collision, police said.

Magalhaes was transported to Danbury Hospital for injuries sustained in this collision, police said.

This crash is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division.
