The free 11-week course will be held every Tuesday evening until Nov. 22.

The class is open to the residents, business owners and people who work within the city.

Participants will receive interactive instruction in many basic Police Department tasks, along with an opportunity to role-play and have hands-on experience with the tools of the police trade.

The course, which is offered twice a year, is designed to give citizens the opportunity to learn more about the operations and procedures of their Police Department and to foster enhanced understanding and cooperation between the police and the community they serve.

Sessions are intended to heighten awareness of both the public and police in an effort to develop a partnership between both.
