Danbury Police Charge Two In Drug Bust

DANBURY, Conn. - Two Danbury residents were charged Tuesday with intent to sell heroin from their home on Lincoln Avenue, after a weeks-long investigation by police.

According to police, officers had been watching the residence of Shawn Pennywell, 33, and Robert Cherry, 43, and noticed an unusual amount of foot and car traffic. "Many of the people seen frequenting the address were known drug users and people with a violent criminal history," police said.

A search warrant was obtained, police said in a report, and the Danbury Special Investigations Unit, SWAT team and the Community Conditions Unit entered the house. Police said they found Pennywell, Cherry and several known drug users as well as heroin, crack and drug paraphernalia.

Pennywell was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia  possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of a narcotic with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

Cherry was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of crack, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, criminal attempt to sell heroin and criminal attempt to sell heroin with in 1,500 feet of a school.

Each was held by the Danbury police on $100,000 bonds until they are arraigned or post bail. No court date was released.
