Danbury Police Department Makes History With Promotions To Sergeant

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Police Department has promoted two of its officers to the position of sergeant — including the department's first ever sergeant. 

Sgt. Amity LaFantano and Sgt. Robert Conrad were both promoted to the position of sergeant Wednesday by the Danbury Police Department.

Police Officer Amity LaFantano made history when she was sworn in at Danbury City Hall on Wednesday morning as she became the department’s first female sergeant. 

She joined the Danbury Police Department on Dec. 27, 2007. Before that, she was a police officer in Newtown. She has served as a field training officer since 2012; a part-time evidence technician since 2011 and a recruitment team member since 2014. She has several letters of appreciation and commendations, including Unit Citations in 2011 and 2012. 

Police Officer Robert Conrad also was sworn in as a Sergeant at Danbury City Hall. He began his career with the department on Jan.12, 1988. He served as a member of the ESU Swat team from 1998 to 2010 and served as an assistant court officer since July 2005. He has received numerous letters of appreciation and commendations including an Exceptional Police Service Award in 1991.
