Danbury Police: One Car Hits Tree; Another Slams Into Telephone Pole

DANBURY, Conn. - A Danbury man was charged with driving under the influence after hitting a tree with his car Sunday night, police said.

According to the police report, officers arrived on the scene at Town Hill Avenue and determined that Ruben Gonzalez, 48, was intoxicated. 

Gonzalez failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right, operating without a license and failure to carry registration and insurance, police said. He was held on $1,000 bond.

  • Officers responded to a one-car accident on Grand Street in which a car struck a telephone pole at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, police said. Officers saw 45-year-old Charlene Anderson, of Danbury, walking away from the scene, police said. Officers reported that Anderson failed field sobriety tests, and she was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and evading responsibility, police said. She was released on $500 bond and given a court date of May 16.
  • Officers were called to a disturbance at Molly Darcy's on Mill Plain Road on Saturday, police said. When they arrived, officers saw security struggling with a person outside on the front walk, police said. The security told police that Sean McNamara, 23, of Danbury, was being removed from the bar for causing a disturbance, police said. Officers asked McNamara several times to leave the property, but he refused, the police report said. McNamara was taken into custody and charged with breach of peace. He was released on $250 bond and is due in court May 13.
