Danbury Police Say Minors Were Found Drinking At Two Businesses

DANBURY, Conn. – During a special investigation recently, Danbury police officers discovered two local businesses allegedly selling alcohol to minors.

On Feb. 26, members of the Connecticut Department of Liquor Control and Special Investigation Division, the Community Conditions Unit, and the Patrol Division inspected three area businesses to ensure compliance with state liquor laws, said Danbury Police Lt. Mark Williams in a press release.

Four minors were found drinking alcohol during an inspection of Club Z at 101 Railroad Place, police said.

Several other minors were also found loitering in the club’s café, according to police.

George Kourpovanidis holds the liquor permit for Club Z, according to the press release.

Police said they discovered one minor drinking alcohol and three others loitering in the café when they inspected Square One Bar & Grill at 24 Mill Plain Road.

Michael El Hayek holds the liquor permit for Square One, according to the press release.

Officers did not cite either involved business at the time of the investigation, but they anticipate some type of action from Connecticut Department of Liquor Control officials, police said.
