Officials say the consolidation of dispatch centers will not only save an estimated $1 million, but will also increase efficiency and reduce response times because calls will no long accidentally get routed to the wrong station, newstimes.com reported.

The new central dispatch will be run by civilians who are currently undergoing training and certification courses, newstimes.com said.
