Danbury Robbery Victim Now Charged In Purse-Snatching

DANBURY, Conn. -- A man who told police he had been beaten up by a “street thug” for his expensive sunglasses is now in trouble with the law himself, according to a report by the Danbury News-Times.

Danbury police have charged a city man with third-degree larceny in the theft of a purse. The suspect himself had been the alleged victim of a strong-arm robbery earlier in the week.

Lucas Viganor, 23, is facing charges of third-degree larceny in connection with the theft of a purse from a car parked on Main Street, police told the News-Times.

Police are accusing Viganor of using the victim’s credit cards to buy thousands of dollars worth of items from a local pharmacy, the News-Times reported.

Two days earlier, the city resident had reported to police he had been attacked in broad daylight by a man who stole his $1,000-plus Versace sunglasses, wallet and cell phone, the News-Times’ story said.

That man, 24-year-old Danbury resident Devante Laurel, has been arrested in connection with Viganor’s assault and robbery, the News-Times reported.
