Driver Ticketed After Hitting Mom, Child In Danbury Crosswalk

DANBURY, Conn. -- The 68-year-old woman who struck a woman and her child in a crosswalk on Main Street on Wednesday night was ticketed by Danbury police.

Estelle Schneider of Danbury hit  Cindy Espinal, 25, and a 6-year-old boy who was with her while they attempted to cross Main Street in a crosswalk at about 6:15 p.m., police said. Espinal also had a 4-year-old girl with her who was not hit in the accident, police said. 

Schneider said she did not see anyone in the crosswalk, but stopped immediately after hitting Espinal, police said. 

Espinal and the 6-year-old were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said. 

Schneider was fond at fault for the accident and issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way to a a pedestrian at a crosswalk, police said.
