State Police did not release more details of the incident, which remained under investigation, the Post said.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation said a two-vehicle accident on I-95 southbound had closed the Exit 2 off ramp. "Due to this ramp closure, motorist are advised to seek an alternate route," DOT said.

It was not clear what vehicles where involved in the crash and how it was connected to the police pursuit.

The accident was reported on Wednesday at 12:46 p.m., DOT said. Traffic on southbound I-95 was backed up more than 3 miles to Exit 5 near the Greenwich-Stamford border, DOT said.
