ID Released For Woman Found Dead Under Vehicle In New Canaan

The identity has been released of a Westchester woman whose body was found under a vehicle at around noontime Tuesday in New Canaan, police said.

The New Canaan Police, New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corp and New Canaan Fire Department were dispatched to a residence on South Bald Hill Road on a report of an individual that had been discovered pinned underneath a vehicle and not responsive. 

Arriving first responders located the victim underneath the vehicle, and it was determined that the victim was dead and had been underneath the vehicle for an unknown length of time, police said.

The woman was identified Thursday as Kathleen Hofer, 71, of Rye Brook.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing and being handled by the New Canaan Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit. The State Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
