DANBURY, Conn. -- Logan Almeida, a 5-year-old kindergartner at St. Joseph's School in Danbury who wants to be a police officer when he grows up, wanted to do something to show his appreciation for the Danbury Police Department.

So, he decided to organize a fundraiser and get his entire school involved.

Logan won a school prize to be "Principal for the Day" and offered the students to "dress down" from their normal school uniform attire in exchange for $1, with the proceeds going to buy breakfast for the officers.

Last Friday, Logan arrived at the department's Community Room with coffee, bagels and doughnuts for the officers as a token of their appreciation.

Logan's class and his teachers will also take a tour of police headquarters.

"On behalf of the Danbury Police Department, we would like to say thank you to Logan and his classmates at St. Joseph's School. Logan's generosity and thoughtfulness will resonate with the officers for a long time. The Danbury Police Department is always looking for highly qualified candidates, and is looking forward to receiving Logan's application in the future," Police Lt. Christian Carroccio said.
