School Resource Officer Liam Seabrook arrested the male juvenile after a two-month investigation into the complaint, Newtown police said in a statement.
The complaint was made by a juvenile female at the end of February, and the Danbury Juvenile Court issued an arrest warrant based on the investigation, police said.
The male juvenile was charged with three counts of possessing or transmitting child pornography by a minor, police said.
The boy was issued a court date and released to the custody of his parents, police said. He was not identified because of his age.
This is not the first sexting arrest in Newtown. Earlier this year, five Newtown High School students were arrested on charges of sharing naked pictures and videos of fellow students in a sexting case.
An investigation led to the arrest of three students in January on charges of selling the sexting content and the referral of 20 students to a juvenile review board, accused of "sharing" the information among friends via Snapchat and Kik, police said.
Two teens who turned down the juvenile review board option were charged in February with possession of child pornography by a minor, police said.
