William Gaviria, 58, was charged with breach of peace and will appear in court May 25. This is Gaviria's second arrest in the past week after an incident on May 14.
Police were called to Gaviria's home on Leann Drive on Tuesday evening on a report of a suicidal man. When officers arrived, they found a shirtless Gaviria on the front lawn, yelling that he did not want to live anymore, police said.
When officers approached, he became agitated and kicked the officers, according to police reports. The officers tried to place him in handcuffs, but he became combative and resisted, continuing to kick the officers, police said.
As officers were restraining Gaviria, paramedics arrived on the scene. One EMT gave Gaviria a sedative, and Gaviria proceeded to kick him in the genitals, police said.
He was handcuffed to a stretcher and continued to yell obscenities to the EMT, police said. He was given another sedative and fell asleep, police said.
Gaviria was arrested last week on charges of driving under the influence and carrying a weapon in his car.
Police said they found Gaviria asleep behind the wheel with his car in the middle of an intersection. After he was taken into custody, a machete was found in his car, along with an open beer, according to police reports.
While he was in custody Gaviria also told an officer that he would cut off the officer's head, according to police.
