Wayne Pelham, 25, was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing. He had previously been charged with interfering with an officer and possession of marijuana. He was held on $5,000 bond and will appear in court March 31.

The arrest warrant stems from an incident Jan. 29 when a North Bridge Street neighbor of Pelham's called police to complain about harassment. The neighbor and Pelham's family have been involved in numerous disputes, police said.

She told police that Pelham had walked onto her property carrying an ax. She showed officers surveillance footage of him carrying the ax, and officers went to his house to talk to him, police said.

When officers approached, they saw the ax lying in the snow, according to police reports. They knocked on the door and Pelham began yelling at them through the door, police said. He eventually opened the door but did not want to let in the officers, police said. After he let them in, Pelham did not want them to go into a room and struggled with the officers, according to police reports.

The officers tried to handcuff Pelham, but he continued to struggle and had to be wrestled to the floor, according to police. He was eventually handcuffed but refused to walk on his own, police said.

When taken outside, he thrashed around, knocking an officer and himself into a squad car, police said. He eventually had to be Tasered, police said. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment after the Tasering, and then taken to police headquarters.

While officers were searching him, they found two prescription bottles with marijuana in them, according to police reports. They also received a copy of the surveillance footage showing him with the ax. After reviewing the footage, a warrant for trespassing was issued, and he was taken into custody early Monday morning.
