MONROE, Conn. -- One person was sent to the hospital after a driver in Monroe cut off the CT United Ride motorcycle procession held every year to pay tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, according to the Trumbull Times.

The CT United Ride, which was held Sunday, is the state's largest Sept. 11 tribute, and this year attracted more than 2,500 motorcyclists, the Trumbull Times reported. The ride goes through 10 towns on its way from Norwalk to Bridgeport, attracting crowds as well as police escorts.

Ride organizers told the Trumbull Times that while the procession was going through Monroe, a driver pulled into an intersection and cut off the line. One rider was taken to the hospital, and the incident caused a 10-minute gap in the line, according to the Trumbull Times. The effects could be felt throughout several towns, as drivers thought the procession was over and would pull into traffic, the Trumbull Times reported.

The driver was issued a summons for failing to grant the right of way, according to the Trumbull Times. Despite the interruption, organizers told the Trumbull Times that the ride was a success. It typically raises between $30,000 and $40,000 per year, which are handed out to various emergency responder charities.
