Pedestrian On Cellphone Struck By Car In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- A pedestrian who may have been looking at his cellphone was hit by a car Sunday crossing the street at the intersection of Main Street and Garamella Boulevard in Danbury, according to Danbury Police

The person hit is a 25-year-old man from New Milford. He was crossing Garamella Boulevard heading northbound on Main Street when he was hit by a 2015 Subaru Legacy driven by a 55-year-old Wilton resident, police said.

The driver was reportedly turning left from Main Street on Garamella and did not see the man crossing, according to police.

A witness at the scene told police it appeared the man hit was looking down at his mobile device as he was crossing the street, said police.

The pedestrian was brought to Danbury Hospital for his injuries, according police, who are investigating the incident.
