Police: Danbury Man Busted With 2 Pounds Of Pot

DANBURY, Conn. -- Police investigating a Danbury man for drug trafficking found two pounds of marijuana when they searched his home last week.

Police began an investigation into 41-year-old Michael O. Wright weeks earlier after receiving complaints that he was selling drugs in the city. Investigators conducted surveillance of him and his home and detected activity consistent with illegal drug trafficking, police said.

On Wednesday, May 10 police executed a search and seizure warrant on Wright's home on Prince Street, as well as on his person, his car and his phone. The warrant was executed by the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Community Conditions Unit, the Danbury Regional SWAT Team, and a federal law enforcement official.

During the execution of the warrant, Wright was stopped in the parking lot of a local fast food restaurant. Police found that he had narcotics on him, and he was placed under arrest, according to police. At the same time, police searched his home, where they found two pounds of marijuana, as well as additional narcotics and paraphernalia, according to police.

Wright was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school. His bond was set at $100,000.
