At around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, a resident of Hollow Tree Ridge Road in Darien checked her email and saw that she had received a "fraud alert" from her bank. When she went to her car to retrieve her purse, she saw that her center console was open and her purse was missing, police said.

She checked with her banks and found that several fraudulent transactions had been made, totaling $1,200, according to police. She said that the purse had been taken at some point during the overnight hours, and that her car had been left unlocked, police said.

At around 7:30 a.m. that morning, a neighbor found the woman's wallet on the ground, police said. The only thing left in the wallet was the victim's driver's license. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
