Members of the Ridgefield Police Department will make the change from the previous gray uniform to the new blue uniform beginning on Jan. 1, 2018. The Board of Police Commissioners and the Chief of Police researched and reviewed the change, and made the decision after input from department staff.

The new uniform will be a traditional midnight blue, incorporating the current uniform patch, and will have embroidered rank insignias and officer names.

The current gray uniform will continue to be worn by police officers for special occasions such as Sept. 11 ceremonies, the Memorial Day event, and other similar special events.
