The home invasion occurred at 606 S. Main St. in Bridgewater at 3:40 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Troopers from Troop A-Southbury initiated medical care to the male victim, secured the area, and learned a home invasion had occurred, police said.

EMS transported the male victim, who was conscious and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, to Danbury Hospital.

At least one suspect, a light-skinned or Hispanic male, fled the scene, police said. He was believed to be in possession of a firearm and hiding in the heavily wooded area between 606 S. Main St. and the boat launch at Lake Lillinonah, police said.

Troopers, State Police K9s, and State Police Tactical Unit members searched the heavily wooded area. Brookfield Police Officers also assisted.

Troopers also located a vehicle reported stolen out of New York State on South Main Street, and were working to determine whether was related to the home invasion.

During the search, troopers found a shotgun in the area, police said.

A resident in the area reported that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway, police said. Troopers determined that the suspect was most likely no longer in the area, police said.

The vehicle stolen was found on North Main Street in Waterbury, state police said. Detectives were working to determine whether that stolen vehicle was related to the original Bridgewater investigation.

Anyone with information on the home invasion and the suspect or suspects is asked to call detectives at 203-267-2200 or text TIP711 with the information to 274637. All calls will be kept confidential.
