Police arrested Andrew “Moe” Parra, 24; Joseph Parra, 27; and Henry Austin, 24, all of Waterbury.
The incident began Thursday when members of the Special Investigations Division saw Andrew Parra, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, operating a white Nissan SUV, police said.
In an effort to flee, Parra intentionally crashed into two unmarked police cars, police said. When his car came to a stop, offices removed Parra and his two passengers from the car, police said.
In doing so, a large quantity of illegal narcotics was found in plain view inside the car, police said. None of the occupants claimed ownership of the narcotics, so all three were arrested.
All three men were charged with:
- Possession of narcotics
- Possession. of crack cocaine
- Possession of narcotics with intent to sell less than 1 ounce
- Possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of school
- Possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of school
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Interfering with the duties of an officer
Andrew Parra was additionally charged with parole violations, first-degree reckless endangerment and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He was held on $200,000 bond.
Joseph Parra was held on $150,000 bond, and Austin Henry was held on $100,000 bond.
Back on Jan. 20, police attempted to arrest who they thought was Andrew Parra on outstanding warrants. That man eluded police capture and fled, police said.
Danbury Police learned a short time later that the man was involved in a serious one-car accident on Route 7 north in Brookfield. He sustained extensive injuries in the crash, and was transported to Danbury Hospital and later sent to Westchester Medical Center for specialized care and treatment.
Through further investigative efforts, police learned that the man was actually another individual who was in possession of a substantial quantity of crack cocaine and heroin.
