Fire units were dispatched to C.F.C. Landscaping and Construction on South Street at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of numerous vehicles on fire. Responding firefighters were faced with a locked gate when they arrived, but quickly gained entry by cutting the chain, fire officials said.
They then encountered a fenced-in area with a box truck, dump truck and two pickup trucks fully engulfed in flames. The fire had also extended to a small wood frame storage structure and a fenced-in area where two equipment trailers were stored. The storage structure and one of the trailers sustained minimal damage, fire officials said.
Crews connected to a hydrant on South Street and deployed multiple hose-lines to attack the fire. They also utilized foam to extinguish the fire, and it was quickly knocked down, fire officials said.
Fire units completed overhaul as needed by the Danbury Fire Marshal's office, and once that was completed the scene was turned over to the Danbury Fire Marshal's office and the Danbury Police Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
