Two Charged With DUI On Election Night In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. - Danbury officers arrested two drivers on charges of driving while intoxicated on Election night, police said.

At 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers stopped Cesar Minchala, 29, of Danbury, after witnessing him turn onto Balmforth Avenue and into oncoming traffic, police said.

Officers administered the standard field sobriety tests, which Minchala failed, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right, driving with no license, failure to drive in a proper lane and making an improper turn.

Minchala was released on $2,500 bond and given a court date of Nov. 18.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, officers stopped Jorge Lopez, 32, of Danbury, after seeing him driving at a very slow speed on White Street and taking a very wide turn into 5th Avenue, police said.

Lopez failed all three field sobriety tests, police said. He was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and driving with no license. He was held on $500 bond, no court date was released.
