According to Herald, the call came in at around 8:30 a.m. through a 911 call. "As the units were leaving, we could see a column of smoke, we knew we had a worker and we struck a second alarm," Herald said.
Herald said there were four alarms issued for this fire, not because they needed the additional trucks at the scene but because the fire required more men to help fight it.
"It was a difficult fire to fight, it was difficult to get to some parts of the home with the walls,” Herald said, adding that the firefighters who were staying at the scene would be looking for "fire hidden in the walls."
Herald confirmed that there were no civilian injuries from the fire, but that a firefighter had been sent to Danbury Hospital for observation. One dog did die and two others were treated on scene before being sent to animal control for further care.
The Red Cross was on scene to assist the two families that lived in the home.
