The Westport Fire Department responded at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to 52 Post Road E., part of the Bedford Square development.
Two construction workers were setting up on the second floor to cut steel as part of the ongoing renovations and construction when the scaffolding they were using tipped over, said Westport Assistant Fire Chief Michael Kronick.
One worker was on the scaffolding and the other was hit by it, Kronick said. Both suffered non-life-threatening leg injuries, he said.
Westport EMS and police also responded, providing primary patient care while firefighters used ropes and rigging to set up a lowering system to remove the two construction workers from the second floor of building, Kronick said.
Both construction workers were transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS.
The Westport Fire Department responded with 11 firefighters and an officer. They were on the scene for about one hour, Kronick said.
Connecticut OSHA was notified, and the two construction companies working on the project both had their safety officers respond to investigate the accident, he said.
