Scammers will send a note to someone that states, "I know about the secret you are keeping from your wife," along with a demand that the recipient pay $2,000 in Bitcoin to keep the matter confidential, police said. 

Police are warning residents not to send any money if they receive a letter of similar nature, and to report any such instances to the police.
