The money is earmarked for various projects, mostly for a new dock yard on the Danbury branch line in Norwalk.
Rep. Stephen Harding (R-Danbury) was excited about the earmarked money in a statement released on Tuesday.
“I am excited that these projects will finally be getting underway. These are important improvements to our district’s infrastructure, and I know that our services and residents will greatly benefit. I thank the Bond Commission for their support,” he said.
Other projects to be funded with the money include improvements to the Danbury Department of Developmental Services Center, renovations to Richter House in Richter Park, and extra support for the Family & Children’s Aid and the Hispanic Center with Grant-in-aid.
Fellow Rep. Dan Carter (R-Danbury) was equally excited in a statement he released.
“The improvements to the dock yard in Norwalk, which is receiving the majority of these grants, totaling $4 million, will allow the state to increase capacity and reliability on the Danbury line, benefiting riders from Danbury who rely on the train each day to commute to and from work, school or other commitments,” said Carter.
