Scribner, who was re-elected to his house seat in District 107 this past fall, will now serve as a commissioner in the Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Division.

He had served in the state legislature since 1999 in the seat, which represents part of Danbury, Bethel and Brookfield.

“I have cherished every moment of my service in the State House of Representatives, and I can’t overstate how much it has meant to me to have been entrusted by the residents of the 107th District over the years to represent them in Hartford, “ said Scribner in a statement.

“I thank the governor for his faith in me for this new post. I am looking forward to the new set of challenges that will accompany my new responsibilities, and I am grateful for this opportunity to continue my public service in a new and exciting way.”

Malloy called a special election, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, to fill the vacancy created by Scribner's acceptance of the new post.
