DANBURY, Conn. – State Rep. Dan Carter (R-Danbury) is urging residents to avoid drunken driving, distracted driving, and cellphone use behind the wheel, especially during this holiday season.

“The holidays are about being with family and celebrating another prosperous year,” said Carter. “Please keep this in mind while organizing transportation plans between festivities. Your decisions could not only impact your holiday, but the holidays of others as well. I ask everyone to be responsible and considerate this holiday season. Respect the speed limit and wear a seat belt.”

As the holiday season comes to an end, enforcement programs launched by State Police troopers will consist of an increase in scheduled DUI sobriety checkpoints and enhanced DUI enforcement operations on roads and highways across Connecticut.

This trend is not limited to Connecticut as state police departments across the country will be taking similar measures as part of the Combined Accident Reduction Effort.
