Bielizna, a real estate agent, takes over the position from Lori Kaback, resigned during her fifth term in February to take a position as Wilton’s new town clerk.

Bielizna is a registered Democrat whose appointment was unanimously recommended by the Danbury Democratic Town Committee.

“Joan is very qualified to serve this position. Having recently served as deputy registrar of voters she’s familiar with our election laws and our procedures for Election Day,” said Democratic Town Committee Chair Joseph Walkovich at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. “With her career as a real estate agent, she’s also very mindful of the land records and the importance of keeping those records intact.”

Bielizna’s appointment was unanimously approved by the City Council.
