McLachlan, a ranking member of the GAE panel, oversees issues related to ethics, constitutional amendments, agreements between the state and Native American tribes, Freedom of Information, and election laws.
McLachlan serves the 24th District communities of Danbury, Bethel, New Fairfield, and Sherman.
“Sen. McLachlan is a champion for open government and transparency,” Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) said in a press release.
“He has also been a lead advocate for cleaning up our state elections laws. Sen. McLachlan has done an excellent job as a state senator, and he will be a key member of our caucus during the 2015 legislative session.”
McLachlan will also sit on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, and serve as a ranking member of the Finance Committee’s General Bonding Subcommittee.
He will also continue serving on the Judiciary Committee, where he plans to lobby to prevent border tollbooths from being built in the Danbury area.
“Tolls are taxes, and they would punish greater Danbury motorists and businesses disproportionately,” McLachlan said in a press release.
“I will work with area legislators from both sides of the political aisle to put the idea of tolls into a permanent traffic jam.”
He will also continue service as co-chair of the Life Sciences Caucus, which works to grow the state’s life science industry and attract promising young people to live and work in Connecticut.
