Esty issued the following statement: in celebration of Independence Day, July 4, 2015:

“As we celebrate the birth of our great nation, let us do so with hearts full of gratitude. Let us reflect on the many sacrifices of our men and women in uniform as well as the efforts of those Americans who in each generation have advocated so effectively for our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"Today we celebrate the founding of our country and honor the wisdom of those who conceived of a nation founded on the principles so clearly set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. And we also take stock of how we can and should strive for a more perfect realization of those enduring principles. Just this past week the Supreme Court issued a historic decision underscoring how the arch of moral universe in this country does indeed bend towards justice for all.

"On this day of national celebration – and on every day – I am proud to be an American and grateful to have the opportunity to serve Connecticut's Fifth District in our representative democracy. I wish you a Happy Fourth of July and God Bless our United States of America.”
