Due to the Independent support, Scribner’s name will now be on both the Republican line and the Independent line on the Nov. 4 ballot.

After the Republican and Democratic parties, the Independent Party is the third largest in the state.

“During my tenure in the legislature I have strived to be an independent voice for the residents of the 107th District,” Scribner said. “I thank the Independent Party for their faith and enthusiasm for my candidacy. I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the large segment of district residents who want a responsive and responsible government without regard to partisan politics.”

John Dietter, state chairman of the Connecticut Independent Party, said, “We believe David Scribner represents a terrific independent voice in the state legislature seeking an inclusive and responsible state government for all citizens. His distinguished record in the legislature reflects our common goals. We enthusiastically endorse Rep. Scribner in his re-election bid, and look forward to his victory in November.”

The 107th District is made up of Brookfield, and parts of Bethel and Danbury.

Scribner, who has served in the State House for 15 years, is facing a challenge from Dan Smolnik, a member of the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee and a newcomer to running for public office.
