Senate Democrats Approve $19.7 Billion Budget Proposal; House To Vote Next

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Democrats in the state Senate voted Thursday night to approve a $19.7 billion budget that would take effect July 1 and erase a projected $960 million state deficit, according to the Connecticut Post.

The first of several budget-related bills passed along party lines 21-15, after more than three hours of debate, the Connecticut Post said.

The House of Representatives is scheduled vote on the budget Friday, the Connecticut Post reported.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said during his budget address that the state’s economic landscape was sharply changing and budgeting plans had to be changed, reported the Connecticut Post.
