The Republican Town Committee nominated Lynne Vanderslice to run for first selectman. Vanderslice is currently a member of the Board of Finance.
Deb McFadden will carry the Democratic banner in November's race for first selectman. The Wilton Democratic Town Committee selected its candidates for November's municipal elections at its caucus Wednesday.
“I’m grateful for the confidence of the Wilton Democrats. The support I have received over the past few weeks since announcing has been incredible," McFadden said. "As Wilton’s first selectman, I want to represent the best thinking of all our people to move Wilton to a better tomorrow.”
Republicans also nominated Michael Kaelin for selectman.They also backed Peter Balderston and Walter Kress to run for the Board of Finance.
It will be the first time in 10 years since there was an electoral contest for the top elected position in Wilton. Republican Bill Brennan decided not to seek re-election after 10 years in the post.
Vanderslice served as corporate controller for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of New York from 1979-91, among other positions during her career. She is active in the community in Wilton, including serving seven years on the Board of Finance. Vanderslice is a past president of A Better Chance of Wilton, past treasurer of The Wilton Playshop and former development chair for the Wilton Library.
In addition to McFadden, the Democratic caucus nominated Brian Lily and Gil Bray for the Board of Selectmen, John Kalamarides for the Board of Finance, Keith Rogerson for the Planning and Zoning Commission, Charlie Lewis for the Board of Assessment Appeals and John Gardiner and Bo Mitchell for constable. No candidate was nominated for the Zoning Board of Appeals.
