The agency's new 4,000-square-foot office, just across the Post Road from its previous home, has 25 percent more space, an indoor parking garage and more luxurious office and meeting space.

Chairman and founder Rick Higgins is enthusiastic about the new surroundings, with its multiple high tech conference rooms and a plush design throughout the building.   “We had the opportunity to move across the street yet be able to grow our company to the next level,” he said. “We wanted a place that would be warm and welcoming yet reflect the luxury brand that a Christie’s Affiliate represents.”

Since opening in 1997, the business has grown from one location to 12 across Fairfield County, and the sales staff has increased from Rick, himself to nearly 400 highly trained, professional agents.

Higgins said that in recent weeks there have been several multimillion-dollar home sales in the area, which is indicating an improving market for next year.  “Things are looking really good, and the market is starting to come around now,” he said.  With 40 years in the real estate business as a broker, real estate attorney and developer, Higgins said he has a “strong sense” that the housing market is improving.  “Customer confidence is the most important gauge in business, and that is starting to bounce back up” he said.

Higgins added that now is an ideal time to buy a home with mortgage rates averaging 3 to 4 percent. What people forget is that from 1979 to 1991 mortgage rates were a minimum of 10% and very often in the teens. That lasted 11 years in a row.  The present rates are going to disappear at some point and we may never see them again or for at least a long time.  I’ve noticed that with a lot of people, between the 30% reduction in the prices and 3% or so in mortgage rates, this is clearly a very opportunistic time to be a Buyer.”

Along with our downtown Fairfield office move, we recently relocated our Greenfield Hill office to 129 Hillside Road. We are the number one real estate office in Greenfield Hill and we needed to expand our space.  Our Stamford office also recently relocated to 27 Strawberry Hill Road and now has over 100 agents that speak 23 different languages.

Higgins Group operates offices throughout Fairfield County and is the exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International real estate for Fairfield and Westport. For more information, contact Rick Higgins at Rick@Higginsgroup.com or call 203-254-9000.
