Bedford Police Charge Two With DWI In Traffic Stops

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Benjamin S. Goldberg, 21, of Mount Kisco was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was stopped Wednesday for making an improper left turn out of the Katonah A&P parking lot, according to a Bedford police report.

At 2:40 a.m., a Bedford police officer stopped Goldberg's black Honda sport utility vehicle as it drove out of the lot onto Bedford Road. The officer said he smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver.

According to police, when Goldberg was asked to display his license, he did so but told the officer the license had expired.

Police said that Goldberg failed field sobriety tests and that a chemical test showed his blood alcohol content to be 0.22 percent, which raised the charge to aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He also was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license, failing to turn as required and making an unsafe lane change, all infractions.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due July 26 in Bedford Town Court.
