The ceremony opened with the processional, led by the Danbury High School band directed by Ted Adams.

The welcoming address came from Sagar Mehta. "Please don't let life pass you by, breathe it in," Mehta said.

Mayor Mark Boughton offered words of wisdom and left the graduates with something to think about after his speech. "This is your day to celebrate, and I know you can accomplish much as you, the Class of 2015 has already done," said Boughton.

The graduates also heard from class Valedictorian Steven Anthony Schwab. He talked about making unique choices -- citing his favorite funky socks. "Do not let anyone tell you not to express yourself. You know I love my socks," Schwab said with a chuckle.

After his speech came The Madrigal Singers, who performed a few songs under the direction of teacher Kimberly Russell.

“The Perfect Box” was then performed by Ryan Fox.

Gary Bocaccio, principal of Danbury High School, congratulated the graduates and thanked all the teachers for their hard work over the years helping their students.

Followed by that were remarks given by Sal V. Pascarella, superintendent of the Danbury Public Schools. He also congratulated the seniors for their remarkable years in the school.

Co-advisers to the Class of 2015, Mary Veach and Beth Pimpinello, announced the names as each member of the class went up for their diploma. As each student joined the long procession, one by one, they received their diplomas. It was all part of the journey, one they will never forget.
