Danbury Students Win Regional Art Awards

DANBURY, Conn. -- Two students from Wooster School in Danbury received regional honors and will have work exhibited in Hartford through Feb. 6.

Meredith Fanning and Lukas Palumbo, both class of 2016, won in the Connecticut Regional Scholastic art awards.

The exhibit at Silpe Gallery in Taub Hall at the Hartford Art School runs through Saturday, Feb. 6. 

Lukas won a Gold Key in drawing for his charcoal and ink landscape drawing, and Meredith won a Silver Key in mixed media for her encaustic panel. 

The Connecticut Regional Art Awards, an affiliate of The Alliance For Young Artists & Writers, recognizes the achievements of talented young artists. Roughly 130 public, private and parochial middle and high schools from throughout Connecticut participated in the awards. 

During two days of judging, the jurors selected about 665 pieces from the approximately 2000 which were entered in categories ranging from ceramics and sculpture to painting, drawing, fashion and digital art.
