DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury's Western Connecticut State University will hold two ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Thursday.
The first ribbon cutting will take place at 11 a.m. at the new math emporium in the Higgins Hall Annex, 181 White St. The renovated space will provide 3,500 square feet of classroom space in a state-of-the-art environment that is designed to provide software-based learning tools, traditional lecture instruction and one-on-one tutoring.
The new technology in the math emporium is currently being used in a pilot program for 28 students enrolled in an intermediate algebra course. The school hopes to roll the new software and curriculum out to all 100-level mathematics courses.
The second ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the Learning Commons adjacent to the Young Library in the Westside Classroom Building, 43 Lake Ave. Ext.
The Learning Commons will provide tutoring, advisement and other programs designed to enrich the academic experience for students enrolled in the Ancell School of Business.
