The drive will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14, at Target, 7 Stony Hill Road in Bethel. The public is encouraged to participate.

The WCSU Police Department is expanding its annual effort to collect toys for children involved with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.

"For the past several years, we have conducted the annual Christmas Toy Drive. Each year it has grown larger and has produced thousands of toys for children and teens under the care of DCF," WCSU police Sgt. Richard Montefusco said. "This year, it is shaping up to be even bigger because we have partnered with the Bethel Police Department and Target of Bethel. Target has agreed to sponsor and donate to us, which is a huge plus for all involved."

Among the items sought are new, unwrapped MP3 players and iTunes gift cards for teenagers; winter jackets and sweatshirts for children of all ages; toys for young children, including babies; and books, CDs and DVDs.

For more information, call Montefusco at 203-837-9302.
