Danbury's WestConn Showcases Works By Art Department Faculty

DANBURY, Conn. — The Department of Art at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury will open the fall semester with an exhibit highlighting the department’s faculty.

The exhibition will feature the works of 24 full- and part-time art faculty members in a wide variety of mediums, including photography, sculpture, drawing, painting and assemblage. 

The exhibition, which opened Monday, will run through Sunday, Sept. 13, in the Art Gallery at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Ext. in Danbury.

The gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays from noon-4 p.m. and weekends from 1-4 p.m. The gallery will be closed on Sundays, Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.

A gallery reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3. The reception and exhibition will be free, and the public is invited. RSVP for the reception at the School of Visual & Performing Arts Eventbrite page.

Catherine Vanaria, department of art chair, said this exhibit is an opportunity for new and returning students, along with the general public, to witness the creativity, diversity and breadth of work of the department’s professional practitioners.

Several works will be offered for purchase. Faculty participants will include: Bob Alberetti, Vincent Baldassano, David Boyajian, David Bradford, Riley Brewster, Leslie Cober-Gentry, David Ferreira, Chris Hartman, Jilaine Jones, Stacey Kolbig, Jurg Lanzrein, Ed Little, Megan Marden, Sabrina Marques, Plonia Nixon, Fran Patnaude, Marjorie Portnow, Karen Roff, Ken Scaglia, Elyse Shapiro, David Skora, Jack Tom, Catherine Vanaria and Terry Wells.
