“For a number of years, Dr. Elizabeth Feser has exemplified the integrity, knowledge, vision, collaboration communication skills, work ethic, human goodness and passion for the welfare of children that are hallmarks for very effective superintendents of schools. Her leadership of a school system, therefore, is a model for how Superintendents can and should lead,” said Joseph Cirasuolo, executive director of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents.
“We are pleased to bestow the honor of Superintendent of the Year upon Dr. Feser and look forward to continuing our work with her as she leads the Milford Public Schools.”
Before joining the Milford Public Schools as superintendent in April 2011, Feser served nine years as the superintendent of Windsor Public Schools. She was also the former assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for New Canaan Public Schools.
In reaction to her selection, Feser said, “I am both humbled and honored to have been selected as the CAPPS Superintendent of the Year. I have dedicated much of my life in service to children, which I consider a privilege. As an educational leader I have to thank countless students, parents, teachers, colleagues and mentors who have supported and taught me throughout my career.”
In 2005, Feser received the Windsor Bridge Builders Award and, in 1993, was honored by the Connecticut Council for Exceptional Children. In addition, she is the recipient of the Women’s History Project Award in Danbury and was honored by the United Way in Danbury for her leadership in the United Way campaign.
Feser has published a number of articles and has been recognized many times for community leadership in Windsor and Milford.
She holds a doctorate in education from Columbia University, two master's degrees in education, one from Columbia University and another one from Boston College, and a bachelor of arts degree from St. Xavier College.
