New Fairfield, Sherman Entries Sought In Recycling Billboard Contest

DANBURY, Conn. -- Students Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman may submit entries to the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority art contests.

Winners of the contest which aims to encourage people to recycle will have their artwork displayed on a HRRA billboard for a month.

The entry deadline is Feb. 24. The contest is open to all students in 11 municipalities in grades K to 12. 

The entry forms are available at participating schools or at Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury.

Any teacher and organization in Danbury that wishes to participate can contact the local coordinator, Taylor O’Brien at 203-797-4511.

There will be winners from each grade and school.

Prizes for third-, second- and first-place, and grand prize, are $25, $50, $75, $150, respectively.

A regional grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the winning participating classroom teacher or organization towards environmental educational needs.

This contest is sponsored by HRRA, All-American Waste, Winters Brothers Waste Systems CT, Union Savings Bank, NewTech Recycling Inc, MXI, Wheelabrator and the Regional Recycling Task Force for Earth Day, April 22.
