DANBURY, Conn. -- Saturday is the last day to take an online pledge to drive safe and help Danbury High School win a national contest for $100,000, the City of Danbury reminded residents in a reverse phone call Friday afternoon.
The school is in a tough battle for first place in a contest hosted by State Farm Insurance. The winners in two categories will receive the $100,000 and a concert from Kelly Clarkson.
A group of Danbury High students has led a weeklong effort to rally the community to take part in the contest.
Students set up a booth at Danbury Fair Mall, where they can explain the contest to shoppers and help register to vote online.
The contest, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, is trying something other than scare tactics to promote safe driving for teenagers by providing positive driving messages and engaging students around the country.
To vote for Danbury High School, visit the Celebrate My Drive website and vote on Saturday, the last day of the contest. The winner will be announced next month.
Visit the site and click on "make your commitment now." The fill in your personal and school information, take a short quiz and check a box stating you commit to safe driving practices to help Danbury High win the top prize.
