The event will be Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Campus Center on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Ext. in Danbury.

Featured speakers will include the Rev. Walt Everett and Mike Carlucci. Everett is a pastor at a Methodist church, and the father of six children. His son, Scott, was shot and killed in 1987. Everett spent a year dealing with devastation, rage and depression until he decided to write to Carlucci, the man who killed his son. After explaining to Carlucci how he tore apart Everett’s family through his actions, Everett then forgave Carlucci at the end of the letter and unknowingly began building a foundation for friendship.

Through correspondence with Carlucci while he served his prison sentence, Everett built a close bond with Carlucci and even argued for his early release. Now Everett and Carlucci give lectures about their experience in dealing with healing for both the victim and the offender when a crime is committed.

The event is free and open to the public.
