DANBURY, Conn. – Ana Grace Marquez-Greene, a victim of the Dec. 14 Newtown tragedy, is remembered as a singing, dancing, smiling girl, and the Western Connecticut State University community in Danbury is honoring her memory through fundraising and a scholarship.
“Her short life has left an indelible imprint on the world,” WestConn officials said in a statement.
Her father is Jimmy Greene, an assistant professor of music at WestConn. Her mother is Nelba Marquez-Greene, an adjunct faculty member at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
The Ana Grace Marquez-Greene Music Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the girl's love of music to give people the opportunity to study music at WestConn. A separate fund, the Ana Grace Fund, has been set up to benefit Ana’s immediate family.
Two local hip hop artists, OnCue and Chris Webby, wrote and dedicated a song called “Home,” available for sale on iTunes, which will benefit the scholarship fund and the United Way of Western Connecticut, the statement said.
Donations to the scholarship fund can be made sent to Western Connecticut State University, Office of Institutional Advancement, 181 White St., Danbury, CT 06810 or be done online. Donations to the family can also be made online.
